Broward Health Community Health Services Distributes Holiday Meals to 750 Families
Pompano Beach, Fla. - Broward Health Community Health Services today donated bags filled with turkeys and side items - everything a family needs to prepare a traditional holiday meal to 750 deserving families. This was the first time Broward Health had a holiday meal distribution at the Annie L. Weaver Health Center, but the health system is already looking forward to making it an annual event.

"We are committed to our community," said Gino Santorio, President/CEO of Broward Health. "We want to give back and partner. Whatever the needs are in the community, we are here to help. You will definitely see us repeating this event in the future."

As the event kicked off, there were cars filled with families lining the streets. Others arrived on foot and were cheered on by Broward Health staff and festive music.

"This exemplifies the spirit of Christmas," said Christopher Ure, commissioner of the North Broward Hospital District, which does business as Broward Health. "Broward Health is a community organization, and giving back at events like this demonstrates we care about the entire well-being of our community."

In addition to turkeys, families received pre-packed bags filled with traditional sides, ensuring the community would have a hot, nutritious meal for the holiday season.

"We are here to help you," said North Broward Hospital District Commissioner Stacy Angier. "Eating well is part of your physical needs. Broward Health is looking at the whole person."

"This event allowed us to reconnect with our patients and show we are here to not just provide healthcare, but care for the entire community," said Tiana Blount, associate vice president, ambulatory operations, Broward Health.
"Fundamentally, Broward Health is a community health organization," said Andrew Klein, chairman of the North Broward Hospital District. "Reaching out through events like this is core to our mission."
