Pet Therapy Dogs Delivers Message to Nurses in Honor of National Nurses Week

Coral Springs, Florida -- In honor of National Nurses Week, pet therapy dogs Karma and Willow from the Humane Society walked the hospital floors at Broward Health Coral Springs with a trick up their sleeves -- a "paw tap" that broadcasts a gratitude voice message to nurses.;

With much appreciation and a full heart, nurses embraced the visit with belly rubs and hugs enough to fill their love tanks to continue their work shift.

“This was a nice surprise to break my day because nurses can benefit from the positive vibes of dog therapy too,” said pediatric nurse Ariela Ben-Nehemiya. “It was honestly the best surprise today!”

To alleviate stress during their work shifts, Marni Bellavia, manager of the Pet Assisted Program for the Broward County Humane Society, is happy to bring the dogs back to the nurses to say thank you for what they do for the community.

“We look forward to more visits in the coming year so we can continue to bring more smiles,” said Bellavia.
