Plastic Surgery and the Senior Set

Fort Lauderdale, FL - For decades, Fort Lauderdale plastic surgeon Dr. Jorge A. Perez has been South Florida’s go-to physician for image-conscious seniors hoping to maintain their youthful appearance through cosmetic surgery. Now, Dr. Perez has attracted the attention of an international TV show and will be featured on an upcoming episode of Rachel Hunter’s Tour of Beauty, a travel series focused on beauty, health and well-being hosted by international supermodel Rachel Hunter.

Traveling from New Zealand, Hunter and her camera crew will be arriving in Fort Lauderdale on August 17th for a week of filming where they will be interviewing Dr. Perez and some of his patients. Cameras will also follow one of Dr. Perez’s patients through the cosmetic surgery process, including a pre-surgery interview and actual filming of the procedure.

Dr. Perez said South Florida is a uniquely popular area for senior citizens interested in cosmetic surgery. Sunny weather, beautiful scenery and an active lifestyle attracts older, affluent residents who want to not only stay fit, but look good too. “I have patients in their 70s and 80s who play golf, tennis and go ballroom dancing regularly, and they want to look as good as they feel,” said Dr. Perez. “It’s a great subset of patients who often recover better than those half their age.”

Dr. Perez is a board certified plastic surgeon who has been a featured expert in plastic surgery for several media outlets, including ABC, NBC, CBS, Univision and Telemundo. He has lectured and trained thousands of surgeons across the world in the areas of facial rejuvenation, breast surgery and body contouring.

Shelley Quinn, a producer for Rachel Hunter’s Tour of Beauty, said Dr. Perez was a perfect fit for the show that focuses on inspiring stories of longevity and youthfulness from a global perspective. During the show, Hunter travels the world in search of secrets for well-being and healthy living. Now shooting its second season, the travel series is now focusing on The Americas, including Venezuela, Alaska, the Caribbean, the Canadian mountains and South Florida. The first season was shown in 120 countries around the world, including the cable channel Ovation TV in the U.S.

“Since the beginning of time, humans have been in search of youth and longevity, and that’s the focus of Tour of Beauty,” Quinn said. “Dr. Perez has earned a reputation among South Florida’s senior population as the physician who helps people defy their age. The segment will focus on the uniqueness of the surgery among an older age bracket and the reasons why plastic surgery is more popular among seniors in South Florida compared to other parts of the country.”
