Coral Springs, Fla. -- Nearly 2,000 men, women and children are expected to lace up their sneakers and get PINKED out on March 24 at the 13th Annual Race for Women's Wellness, a half marathon and 5K presented by the City of Coral Springs and Broward Health. The fun-filled morning will include a post-race party with food, live entertainment and an awards presentation.
Funds raised go to the Lisa Boccard Breast Cancer Fund, which provides free mammograms to financially distressed women in the community. Since its inception, the fund has screened more than 2,000 women, of whom more than 100 tested positive for cancer.
“The Race for Women’s Wellness is an inspiring event for a fantastic cause,” said Beverly Capasso, President and CEO of Broward Health, who will be running in the 5K. “The monies raised assist women of our community, ensuring they receive necessary breast cancer care.”
Runners and walkers of both the half marathon, which begins at 6 a.m., and 5K, which starts at 7:30 a.m., will start at the Coral Springs Tennis Center on Sportsplex Drive, located at 2575 Sportsplex Dr. From there, participants will continue on a fast, flat and paved course that winds through the City.
