Did you experience some setbacks in 2018? It's easy to feel defeated when you fall short of your life or work goals.
But taking stock can be a good starting point to explore ways to overcome potential detours and set a new course for the New Year. Look at areas where you think you missed the mark on meeting your goals, and then try these tips:
-
Commit to strengthening just one weak area. At work, it might be organizational skills. At home, it might be addressing your temper. Identify the one area you’d like to work on and commit to a personal improvement plan.
-
Reduce your distractions. If you haven’t put in the effort to make friends or do other activities that truly fulfill you, is it possible that excessive use of your smartphone, for example, is eating up your time? Eliminating time-wasting activities or those you don’t enjoy will free you up to devote time to your true interests and relationships.
-
Make a plan to evaluate throughout the year. Reflecting and evaluating your goals on a monthly or quarterly basis allows you to see where you are in your game plan and make adjustments.
