Thomas Kester Named Broward Health Medical Center Chief Nursing Officer

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Broward Health has named Thomas Kester, RN, MSN, DNP, CNOR, chief nursing officer (CNO) of Broward Health Medical Center. As CNO, Kester will be responsible for providing nursing and clinical leadership and ensuring that clinical staff needs are met.

Prior to his appointment as Broward Health Medical Center’s CNO, Kester worked at Broward Health Imperial Point where he served as CNO/COO. He was also the hospital’s regional director of surgical services. Prior to that, he was manager of surgical services at Holy Cross Hospital for four years.

“Over the past few years, Tom has been a proven nurse leader within our organization and we are excited to have him take on this new leadership role at Broward Health Medical Center,” said Broward Health President/CEO Beverly Capasso. “Nurses are at the frontline of patient care, and Tom has distinguished himself as a true leader who is not only committed to patient care, but also his fellow caregivers.” 

Kester holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice and Healthcare Systems Leadership from Chamberlain College of Nursing. He also has Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in nursing education from the University of Phoenix, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina.
