General Application Process

Broward Health's Residency and Fellowship Training Programs are fully accredited by national accrediting bodies. To learn more about becoming a resident or fellow, visit the page for your program of interest. Most programs participate in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Surgical Critical Care Fellowship applications are accepted via the Surgical Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery Fellowship Application Service (SAFAS). Emergency Medicine Residency applications are accepted via Residency CAS. Plastics Surgery Residency and Ophthalmology Residency applications are accepted via San Francisco Match.

The following supporting documents are required and should be directed to The Electronic Residency Matching Service (ERAS) located here.

  • Personal Statement
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Three (3) letters of recommendation from individuals familiar with your clinical performance
  • Dean's Letter
  • USMLE or COMLEX transcript with scores
  • Recent professional photo

Interview Days

Broward Health's fellowship programs begin interviewing in the summer and conclude by September each year.

Programs participating in the Main Match start interviews in late September and finish by the end of January.

Match Process

Broward Health proudly participates in several match programs, with each program's match determined by its specialty. As an all-in sponsoring institution, Broward Health ensures that all specialty programs offering a match participate fully, and we do not extend offers outside the match process. Some programs may engage in multiple match programs to accommodate various applicant pools.

Onboarding

After Match Day, you will receive an offer letter and/or a resident employment agreement. You will receive information from the coordinator for your program, including a link to log into the Broward Health Electronic Residency Management System to complete your on-boarding checklist requirements. This information will detail the process to become a Broward Health employee and resident or fellow physician. The coordinator will assist you in setting up a pre-employment and employee health appointment. Each resident and fellow is extended an offer of appointment and employment that is conditional on passing all aspects of the pre-employment process.


Resident and Fellow Benefits and Salaries

Broward Health residents and fellows are full time employees of the hospital system. This provides for a comprehensive salary and benefits program for a residents and fellows.

Additional benefits include meals, lab coats and comprehensive insurance coverage (health, vision, dental, disability, life, and malpractice/professional liability).
