The Broward Health Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program is a three-year training program that offers comprehensive exposure to a broad spectrum of pulmonary pathological processes and critical care medicine.

Welcome to the Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program at Broward Health!

We proudly offer a three-year, ACGME-accredited Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship designed to provide comprehensive, hands-on training experience. Our program is committed to developing the next generation of leaders in pulmonary critical care.

Throughout their training, the fellows will have exposure to a variety of pulmonary procedures including bronchoscopies, thoracentesis, and needle aspiration. Clinical rotations are based at Broward Health North, a Level II Trauma Center, Broward Health Medical Center, an ACS-verified Level I Trauma Center, and Cleveland Clinic Florida.

In addition to clinical responsibilities, fellows will gain valuable experience in research and administrative aspects of pulmonary critical care, helping to prepare them for a successful career in both academic and clinical settings.

About the Program

Broward Health’s Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program’s mission is to train outstanding Pulmonary and Critical Care specialists who advance our field as leaders in clinical medicine, science, and education. The program is designed with emphasis on clinical evaluation and management of patients with acute and chronic lung diseases as well as critical illnesses.

During their training, the fellows will gain expertise in the broad range of different pulmonary pathological processes and critical care medicine. Fellows will also gain expertise in pulmonary procedures (including but not limited to bronchoscopy, thoracentesis, and needle aspiration), consultative skills, and strengthen their academics through clinical rounds, conferences, and review of pathologic and radiologic material. The fellows will be involved in research and use evidence-based medicine for all treatment protocols.

Through this robust training, the program is committed to train competent, capable, and proficient Pulmonary Critical Care physicians who will serve our community. Our program provides clinical training in areas with diverse patient populations. We also place emphasizes on close collaboration between fellows and faculty, fostering invaluable mentorship and individualized professional development.

When our fellows complete their training, they will be able to support and provide much needed Pulmonary and Critical Care services.

Program Highlights

Our ACGME-accredited Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship is designed to foster academic excellence, clinical expertise and personal growth in a supportive and collaborative environment. Fellows benefit from a wide range of opportunities and resources, including:

Training Highlights
  • 8 months in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
  • 3 months in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU)
  • 1 month of Neuro Intensive Care Unit (Neuro ICU)
  • Experience in Trauma Surgical Intensive Care Unit and Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit
  • Multiple electives and research months available

We participate in the National Residency Matching System Program (NRMP) and do not accept applicants outside the Match.

Program Leadership

Fares Qureiyeh, MD - Program Director

Dr. Fares Qureiyeh is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care. Dr. Qureiyeh completed his Pulmonary and Critical Care fellowship at Beth Israel Lahey Health in Burlington, MA. He graduated from the University of Aleppo School of Medicine in Syria. His vast intensivist experience and commitment to medicine has contributed to the growth of the Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at Browar Health.


Sandeep Jain, MD - Associate Program Director

Dr. Sandeep Jain is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, and Sleep Medicine. Dr. Jain completed his Pulmonary and Critical Care fellowship at the State University of Buffalo New York. He graduated from the Rajasthan University, Sawai Mann Singh Medical College in Jaipur, India. Dr. Jain holds many academic titles including Associate Professor of Medicine at Nova Southeastern University, Assistant Professor of Medicine at Dr. Kiran C Patel College of Allopathic Medicine, and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Florida International University. He has extensive clinical research experience and has been involved in clinical teaching since 1996.
