Welcome to the Broward Health Psychiatry Residency at Broward Health Imperial Point Medical Center. Our program is dedicated to developing psychiatrists who will be leaders in the community. Our mission is to train physicians from diverse backgrounds and with varied talents to become agents of change, empowering our graduates to transform the field of psychiatry by providing compassionate, evidence-based care to diverse patient populations.

The Psychiatry Residency Program is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience that prepares residents to meet the demands of contemporary psychiatric practice. Our program emphasizes treatment in a community psychiatry setting and serving patients with chronic severe mental illness. Through the empathic treatment of mental health issues in our community, we aim to improve the overall health, wellness and social support of our patient population. Emphasis is placed on the acquisition of expertise in medical knowledge, clinical skills, scholarly activity and professional competencies within a community-based learning environment. The program offers residents the opportunity to explore the many facets of psychiatry including addiction, geriatric, inpatient, outpatient, consultation-liaison, emergency psychiatry, research, neuromodulation, community psychiatry, crisis management and child/adolescent psychiatry.

Our program aims to graduate ethical psychiatrists who are knowledgeable and competent in the biological, psychological and sociocultural foundations of psychiatry.

About the Program

The Psychiatry program is a four-year comprehensive training program spanning all specialty areas of psychiatry. Main sites include Broward Health Imperial Point, Broward Health Medical Center, Ventre Medical Associates/Mypsychiatrist.com and Deerfield Florida House Inc. Residents gain hands-on experience at these diverse sites, which provide exposure to a wide range of patient populations and clinical settings. This broad training ensures that our residents are well-prepared to meet the challenges of modern psychiatric practice.

Broward Health Imperial Point
Broward Health Imperial Point is a boutique, 204-bed hospital in Fort Lauderdale that has been providing quality care to a rapidly growing community since 1972. Our dedicated team of compassionate healthcare professionals is committed to delivering personalized care to patients and their families. Residents will be exposed to a robust inpatient psychiatric service, consultation-liaison service, and psychiatric emergency room service.

Broward Health Medical Center
Broward Health Medical Center is located in Fort Lauderdale and is Broward County’s largest medical center. Our 716-bed hospital is staffed by more than 3,100 medical professionals and over 800 physicians committed to delivering compassionate, high-quality care. As the flagship hospital of Broward Health, we are proud to have served the Broward County community for more than 85 years.

Residents will gain valuable experience through exposure to a robust inpatient psychiatric service, consultation-liaison service, and psychiatric emergency room service.

My Psychiatrist Outpatient Practice
My Psychiatrist is a leading, full-spectrum mental health practice with six locations across Florida. We provide comprehensive care to individuals of all ages, offering innovative treatment options for a wide range of psychiatric disorders. Our services include neuromodulation with TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation), Spravato therapy, advanced psychotherapy, telemedicine, clinical trials, and expert psychopharmacology.

During their longitudinal outpatient year, residents will train at My Psychiatrist and have the opportunity to become certified in TMS.
