The Pediatric Diabetes Outpatient Centers at Broward Health were designed to support your child with the activities they loved prior to diagnosis. With us serving as your family’s trusted diabetes partner for every step of the journey on this new path forward.

What to Expect

We’ll guide your family through learning to manage diabetes, including nutrition requirements, insulin pump programs, glucose monitoring—and everything in between. We’ll also help you find ways to fit it around your normal routines.

And because we know managing diabetes means adding a lot of to-dos to your list, we have dedicated support staff to help you navigate insurance coverage and renew your child’s prescriptions.

Ongoing Checkups

But even when your child’s diabetes is controlled, ongoing support is crucial for your child to stay well and thrive. That’s why we’d like to see your child every 3 to 4 months. While these visits can be rather long, rest assured it’s because we want to attend to every detail of your child’s diabetes care. We encourage you to bring toys and snacks to keep your child happy and comfortable.

When you come in for a checkup, you should bring your child’s devices and numbers. We’ll review your child’s numbers together and take bloodwork. During your visits, you will also see a number of specialists, including a psychologist, diabetes educator and nutritionist.
