Fort Lauderdale, Florida - Broward Health appointed Steven Travers, Ph.D., CHCIO, CDH-E, to its executive leadership team as chief information officer. As CIO, Travers will oversee and manage information systems, medical review systems, office automation and data telecommunications.

Travers most recently served as CIO at Alabama-based USA Health, an academic health system in the upper gulf coast, where he led systemwide initiatives such as the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) to clinical workflows, the implementation of advanced telehealth capabilities and the orchestration of EMR integration.
A certified healthcare CIO and certified digital health executive, Travers has served as an adjunct instructor at the University of South Alabama Mitchell College of Business and as a board member of the Alabama HIMSS.
Travers earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration-Management from the University of South Alabama, his Master of Business Administration from Millsaps College, his Master of Science in Biology from the University of South Alabama and his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the Mississippi University for Women.
