Center Made Possible Thanks to a $5.5 Million Gift from Grateful Patient and Family
Fort Lauderdale, Florida – The Broward Health Foundation hosted an intimate reception and ribbon-cutting ceremony on January 28, to celebrate the opening of the new Jacqueline J. Bernstein & Marvin H. Weiner Imaging Center at Broward Health Imperial Point.
The new imaging center, featuring state-of-the-art equipment, including an MRI and CT scanner, was made possible by a generous $5.5 million donation from Jacqueline J. Bernstein, resident of Fort Lauderdale’s Harbor Beach neighborhood, and her partner Martin H. Weiner, who sadly passed away before the couple’s gift.
Broward Health leadership hosted supporters, including the Marvin H. Weiner Foundation, community leaders and physicians, to celebrate the special occasion and tour the new center.
“Broward Health is committed to supporting initiatives that make a meaningful, lasting impact on our community,” said Shane Strum, President & CEO of Broward Health. “The opening of the Jacqueline J. Bernstein & Marvin H. Weiner Imaging Center is a perfect example of that commitment, and we are honored the family entrusted us to carry on their legacy."
The couple made the generous donation hoping to inspire others to be more philanthropic and show gratitude for the exceptional and compassionate care Weiner received during his cancer treatment at Broward Health Imperial Point prior to his passing.
“This donation remains one of the largest one-time gifts we’ve ever received,” said Don Eachus, president of the Broward Health Foundation. “Jacqueline Bernstein and Marvin Weiner’s vision and dedication to improving healthcare in our community will have a lasting impact for years to come, and for that, we are truly grateful.”
“Marvin was a retired entrepreneur with a track record of success,” said Bernstein. “He always believed that if you’re fortunate enough to achieve wealth, you have an obligation to share and help others in your community.”
Bernstein and Weiner were particularly passionate about the healthcare needs of seniors, the fastest-growing age group in Broward County, and the new imaging center will benefit this demographic and beyond.
“I am thrilled to celebrate this advancement of the amenities and technology used at Broward Health Imperial Point,” said Robert Dahl, CEO of Broward Health Imperial Point. “The new MRI and CT will help us provide the best possible care to our patients and provide our medical team with the most advanced tools they need to save lives.”
