Fort Lauderdale, Florida - Broward Health began cement pouring on a new medical office building and parking garage across from Broward Health Medical Center, commemorating another significant milestone in the healthcare system’s continued expansion across Broward County. An event recognizing the moment welcomed more than 150 dignitaries, including many elected officials from three municipalities (Fort Lauderdale, Dania Beach and Plantation), as well as numerous business and community leaders from across the region to celebrate Broward Health’s newest development.

“Broward Health is investing for today and tomorrow,” said Shane Strum, President and CEO of Broward Health. “These improvements enhance access to physicians, expand specialty care and modernize the environments where patients receive treatment.”

As one of the 10 largest public healthcare systems in the U.S., Broward Health continues to invest in infrastructure designed to enhance access and meet the enduring needs of South Florida communities.

The new eight-story Broward Health Medical Center medical office building will total approximately 188,000 square feet and include 129 exam rooms, with the capacity to expand to as many as 237. Planned specialties include cardiovascular services, pulmonology, primary care, gastroenterology, neuroscience and women’s services.

The accompanying seven-floor parking garage will span approximately 300,000 square feet and provide nearly 700 parking spaces, improving convenience and access for patients, visitors and staff.

“These new facilities will provide our physicians and care teams with modern, efficient space designed to support collaboration, growth and high‑quality care,” said Manny Linares, CEO of Broward Health Medical Center. “It’s an investment that strengthens how we deliver care every day at Broward Health Medical Center.”

With this new medical office building, as well as one under construction at Broward Health North, Broward Health will significantly expand outpatient and specialty care services to support current needs and future growth while enhancing campus accessibility and infrastructure. Both buildings are scheduled for completion in 2027.

Designed by The Beck Group in collaboration with DMZ Architects, the Broward Health Medical Center development will feature contemporary architecture inspired by South Florida’s coastal environment, promoting accessibility, connectivity and patient comfort. Standardized clinic layouts will create consistency across the Broward Health system, while flexible floor plans will support evolving care models and emerging technologies.

Remedy Medical Properties, a national outpatient medical real estate owner, is collaborating on the project, with DPR Construction serving as general contractor.

The event was marked by a ceremonial handprint dedication with Broward Health and Broward Health Medical Center leadership placing their handprints into freshly poured concrete. The installation will remain a permanent reminder of the leadership and collaboration behind the project and the hospital’s continued commitment to the community.
