Fort Lauderdale, Florida — Edward A. Perez, M.D., an orthopedic trauma surgeon with more than 20 years of experience, has been named chief of orthopedics and orthopedic trauma for the Broward Health Physician Group, a multi-specialty medical group of employed physicians with the Broward Health system.

Before he joined the Broward Health Physician Group in 2019, Dr. Perez served as the service chief of orthopedics at Regional One Health in Memphis, Tennessee, and was a professor of orthopedic surgery at the University of Tennessee/Campbell Clinic.

“Dr. Perez will work closely with our associate vice president for orthopedics, providing the physician leadership, guidance and support needed to advance the strategic growth of our orthopedic service line and the development of a resident training program,” said Dane Ficco, Chief Executive Officer for Broward Health’s ambulatory division, which includes the Broward Health Physician Group.

“I’m excited to contribute to the advancement of the orthopedic service line and to support the practice’s talented group of specialists who cover the spectrum of orthopedic care from sports medicine to joint replacement, hand surgery and trauma,” said Dr. Perez.

Dr. Perez received a bachelor’s degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, and his medical degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago, Illinois. He completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland. He then completed a fellowship in orthopedic trauma at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Maryland.
