Heidi Perez Ruiz, Pharm.D, PGY-1 Pharmacy Resident

Heidi Perez Ruiz was attracted to the Broward Health Medical Center PGY-1 (postgraduate year one) pharmacy residency program because of the opportunities provided for pharmacists.

During her residency, she was able to create and update patient care plans, perform use evaluations and enhance patient care.
“It was a very comfortable work environment,” she said. “And the chance to work as part of a team was very fulfilling for me.”

Heidi was also able to do a rotation throughout the healthcare system, which helped her make the decision to stay.

“I had the opportunity to do rotations at one of Broward Health’s sister hospitals, and I was amazed at how welcoming the people were,” she said. “The rotation pushed me to seek full-time employment at Broward Health Medical Center, and I do not regret it.”

With dreams of attending several mission trips, Heidi is excited to have joined the Broward Health family. We wish her well and can’t wait to see how she transforms patient care through pharmacy.
