Meet Heather Havericak

Title and Department: Chief Operating Officer, Broward Health Medical Center Administration

How long have you worked at Broward Health?
13 years

What motivates you to come to work each day? Our team and the people we work with daily to carry out the mission. There is something special about having an impact each day.

Please share your favorite Broward Health moment. In 2015 when I was able to open our new cancer center. This was a project that was very special to me as I wished my mother had a place like this when she journeyed through her cancer care. Opening that center was so impactful for the team and the patients we serve.

What advice would you give to a new employee just starting their career in healthcare? Always remember why you went into the health care profession. Pursue your dreams, never give up even when it seems impossible. It’s those uncomfortable moments that help us grow. Make sure that you appreciate those around you and build healthy relationships, they will be the foundation to help you thrive.

How do you like to relax? I love to spend time with my husband and two children, traveling, reading, exercising, and spending time with people who make me laugh.

What are you most proud of personally or professionally? I have enjoyed every moment of my career. I am proud of each role I have played and proud of the teams that I have worked with and all that we have accomplished together.

What is on your music playlist? It’s a bit eclectic and can range from 80’s music, country, dance and hip hop

If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, alive or dead, who would it be and why? I would give anything for one more dinner with my mom. I lost her a couple of years ago after a long battle with cancer at the age of 57. She was my driving force for entering into healthcare and serves as my motivation every day.
