Fort Lauderdale, Florida - More than 300 riders clipped into stationary bikes and pedaled their way through the sold-out 7th Annual Africk Family Foundation Spin-A-Thon, raising a record $68,000. This was nearly double last year’s total and will benefit the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Program at Broward Health Medical Center.

Presented by OmegaXL Sport, the high-energy glow ride at host sponsor Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort featured teams decked in bright colorful attire competing on spin bikes with invigorating music provided by a live DJ.

“The Africk Family Foundation is proud to support the mission of Broward Health Medical Center’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Program,” said Pam and Steve Africk. “We consider cardiac rehabilitation an integral part of the journey for those who are affected by cardiovascular disease. It is our pleasure and commitment now, and in the future, to be supportive of this initiative at Broward Health.”

Broward Health’s Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Program is nationally certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. The program at Broward Health Medical Center is recognized for its commitment to enhancing patient quality of life by augmenting standards of care. Its primary goal is to enable participants to achieve optimal physical, psychological and social functioning through exercising and lifestyle changes after a cardiovascular event. The comprehensive program includes exercise, diet, behavioral health and education.

“We have received so much feedback from this year’s riders telling us how much fun they had, and that this year was the best one yet,” said Broward Health Foundation President Donald Eachus. “We thank all of our riders, sponsors and supporters for their involvement and generosity.”
