What is PACE?

PACE was established to offer you and your loved ones, caregivers, and healthcare professionals the flexibility to address your healthcare requirements and support your continued residence in the community.

In PACE, there are no co-pays, deductibles, or coverage gaps, ensuring seamless access to necessary care, services, and medications. A dedicated interdisciplinary team of experts will deliver comprehensive coordinated care tailored to your needs, specializing in elder care.

Upon enrollment in PACE, your monthly fees remain consistent regardless of the level of care required, covering Medicare and Medicaid services in addition to medically necessary services not within their scope. PACE encompasses prescription drugs, physician consultations, transportation, home care, medical evaluations, hospital visits, and nursing home care, ensuring holistic coverage.

With PACE handling all your care needs, any services obtained outside the program without approval may incur personal financial responsibility.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Broward PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) program is a comprehensive healthcare service designed to meet the medical, social, and long-term care needs of older adults who qualify. It aims to provide community-based care and services to people who would otherwise need a nursing home level of care.

Eligibility for the Broward PACE program is determined based on several criteria. Participants must be 55 years of age or older, live in the service area of a PACE organization, be certified by their state as needing nursing home level of care, and be able to live safely in the community with the help of PACE services at the time of enrollment.

The Broward PACE Program offers a wide range of services, including but not limited to primary care (including doctor and nursing services), hospital and emergency services, medical specialty services, prescription drugs, nursing home care when necessary, physical and occupational therapy, and home care. The goal is to cover all medically necessary services that help individuals live as independently as possible.

Once enrolled, participants receive most of their healthcare services from the PACE program. A team of healthcare professionals works with participants to develop a care plan tailored to their individual needs. This interdisciplinary team usually includes primary care physicians, nurses, social workers, dietitians, and other specialists as needed.

Costs for participating in the Broward PACE program can vary. If you qualify for Medicaid, you may not have to pay a monthly premium for the long-term care portion of the PACE benefit. If you do not qualify for Medicaid but have Medicare, you might be charged a monthly premium to cover the long-term care portion of the PACE benefit and a premium for Medicare Part D drugs. However, there is never a deductible or copayment for any drug, service, or care approved by the PACE team.
