Understanding Your Costs

Listed prices are often averages and may not match your final bill.

Hospital charges cover the hospital's own services, like the facility, equipment, and nursing care. They usually do not include separate charges from the physicians or other providers involved in your care. It's worth asking each of those providers about their billing and whether they take your insurance, since some may not accept the same plans as Broward Health.

Your actual cost depends on the care you receive and your coverage, including any deductible or coinsurance. If you have questions about a bill or need help, Broward Health's Financial Assistance Office can guide you.

Your Rights and Protections Against Surprise Medical Bills

Federal law protects you from certain surprise bills, like out-of-network charges for emergency care or care from an out-of-network provider at an in-network facility. If you are uninsured or paying on your own, you also have the right to a Good Faith Estimate of your costs before a scheduled service.
