Cancer Resources at Broward Health

The moment you receive your cancer diagnosis—whether from us or elsewhere—and choose Broward Health’s experts for your treatment, we hit the ground running.

From your first appointment at any of our cancer treatment centers, our dedicated licensed clinical social workers are here to support you—coordinating your care across departments and ensuring a seamless experience.

In addition to streamlining your appointments, we can also help with:

  • Support Services – When you’re sick, the last thing you want to worry about is anything falling through the cracks delaying your care. Our social workers ensure you and your support team have everything needed for working directly with health insurance, disability (short-term and long-term) insurances, the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), or social security for your peace of mind during treatments. We even can help you arrange transportation to your appointments, including providing gas gift cards to ensure you can make it. We help you focus on what matters most – healing.
  • Home Health and Support – Your cancer care continues even when you’re not physically at Broward Health, which is why our social workers can help you and your support team augment your care at home, too. From obtaining home health equipment like lifts or hospital-quality beds to arranging hospice care visits, we ensure you have everything you need to continue your care, regardless of your location in South Florida.
  • Appearance Services – Undergoing cancer treatment is difficult for most patients, even before considering how changes to your appearance may impact your mental and emotional health. To help, we’ve partnered with the American Cancer Society to provide grants for patients at Broward Health to purchase a wig or other head covering of their choosing for their cancer journey, increasing their confidence and helping with their recovery.
  • Survivorship – Getting better is all you are focusing on while you’re undergoing treatment for cancer, but what happens after you survived and treatments are done? To help you deal with the emotional, physical and mental challenges that can come along with survivorship, we have a myriad of resources available, putting the tips that work best for your needs into use. We also can connect you with trusted mental health professionals, both in system and elsewhere in the community, to help you adjust to your new normal post-cancer.
  • Financial Assistance – We have financial assistance available for permanent Broward County residents who received crucially needed medical care without insurance. See if you qualify for our Financial Assistance Program.
