Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy Treatment at Broward Health

Chemotherapy is one of the most effective tools we use to treat cancer. Our specialists may recommend it on its own or alongside other treatments like radiation or immunotherapy, depending on your diagnosis.

This treatment uses strong medications—delivered through an IV, injection, pill or topical cream—over a series of weeks or months. The goal is to slow or stop cancer cells from growing and spreading.

Your care team may recommend chemotherapy to:

  • Shrink tumors before surgery or to ease symptoms
  • Destroy remaining cancer cells after initial treatment
  • Treat cancer that has spread beyond its original site (metastatic cancer)
