What to Expect at Your Appointment

Most mammograms take about 20 minutes. During the exam, a technologist positions each breast on the imaging platform and applies brief compression to capture clear images. Compression lasts only a few seconds per view and helps produce sharper results while using less radiation. You may feel pressure, but the sensation passes quickly. If your breasts are often tender, ask about the best time in your cycle to schedule. Your technologist is there to guide you through each step, so let them know if you need a moment or have questions along the way.
