Broward Health Maternity Care Described as a 'Big Warm Hug'

Broward Health Coral Springs Offers New Parents an Extensive Array of Classes and Support

Becoming a mother is an exciting time in a woman’s life, yet fear of the unknown can be intimidating. Without the right care team in place, an expectant mother can often feel overwhelmed with more questions than answers.

Jinon Deeb Gomez, a maternity patient at Broward Health Coral Springs, knew that to ensure the best possible experience, she’d need to do her homework. Jinon and her husband were drawn to the classes and resources at Broward Health Coral Springs that were highly recommended by their board-certified Broward Health obstetrician and gynecologist Lona Sasser, D.O. The couple found that the support services at Broward Health Coral Springs made the longer drive well worth it. From her initial hospital tour through to postpartum support, the Maternity Place care team supported her every step of the way.

“We believe in providing exceptional care, one patient at a time,” Dr. Sasser said. “As any mom knows – especially first-time moms – resources and classes are a much-needed comfort in your pregnancy and childbirth journey.”

“The no-cost prenatal classes offered by Broward Health, including Lamaze, played an essential role in alleviating my concerns about childbirth,” Jinon said. Led by Barbara Bolinsky, R.N., at Broward Health Coral Springs, these classes helped both Jinon and her husband feel prepared as they waited for the arrival of their baby boy.

“We were warmly welcomed and treated with kindness from the moment we stepped through the doors,” Jinon added. “It didn’t matter how busy the hospital was, the staff made us feel like their priority. I vividly remember a triage nurse who stayed by my side during intense labor contractions. My labor progressed faster than expected and she offered me a sense of calm and reassurance.”

After Jinon’s son Oliver was born, she faced difficulties breastfeeding. Oliver struggled to latch and to gain weight, creating stress and uncertainty for Jinon and her husband. However, thanks to Bolinsky’s consistent follow-up and recommendation to join a breastfeeding support group, things began to turn around. Broward Health employs several board-certified lactation consultants.

“With so many babies being born at Broward Health, I was impressed that Barbara reconnected with me after Oliver and I were discharged,” Jinon said. “While I was initially hesitant to join support groups, the sense of community, knowledge and comfort that came from hearing other mothers share their own experiences was incredibly helpful.”

Reflecting on her time as a maternity patient, Jinon describes the experience as a "big warm hug" and a place where compassionate, personalized care truly made a difference. Confident in the exceptional care she received, Jinon is certain that she will return to Broward Health for future deliveries.

“My delivery was textbook perfect, from easy parking to a smooth birthing process,” she added. “Broward Health is worth the extra drive if you don’t live in the area.” The Maternity Place at Broward Health Coral Springs provides personalized services, including private suites for families, a range of pre- and post-natal classes like yoga, Lamaze and breastfeeding courses.
