Rehabilitation (Physical, Cardiac, Pulmonary)

Rehabilitation and physical therapy units at Broward Health offer a team approach to individuals suffering from movement disorders or injuries in our state-of-the-art facilities. Cardiac rehabilitation is a medically supervised program of exercise, education, counseling and training that helps patients with heart disease achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Pulmonary rehabilitation is a medically supervised program for people who have chronic lung diseases.

The mission of Rehabilitation Services at Broward Health is to improve patients' quality of life through a progressive and integrated continuum of services. Specialized services in various types of rehabilitation are designed to help patients reach their highest level of independent functioning.

Each treatment plan begins with an assessment by a licensed therapist to understand the patient's health history, functional abilities and expectations. An individualized treatment program is set up to achieve the patient's goals. Progress is assessed continuously and treatment modifications are made based on those findings. In addition, the rehabilitation staff teaches patients and families how to promote independent living, prevent re-injury and encourage wellness.
